This App is based on the Psalter chapter in the 1979 Book of Common Prayer (Episcopal Church) beginning on page 581. The purpose of the App is to provide easy access to 150 Psalms available using a simple to use interface. I hope you and your family find this App spiritually enriching for your souls and enjoy it as much as I do with my family.
Below is more information about the features available with this app.
To the left is the opening screen (or splash screen as it is often
referred to) that you are presented with after you launch the
application.
This app was designed to be used without an internet connection. Therefore, all 150 Psalms are provided.
Immediately after the splash screen is displayed, the last Psalm selected is displayed (or Psalm 1 if running the app for the first time). To view another Psalm, simply click the Psalm number in the left pane of the display in the Psalm Index table.
Also available on the bottom of this display is the options toolbar for performing various features including:
- Previous button - Selecting the previous Psalm
- Settings button - Changing the desired display font face and size
- About button - Obtaining more information about the Psalter
- Share button - Sending the selected Psalm to Text Messaging, Mail, Facebook, etc
- Next button - Selecting the next Psalm
To change readings, tap the Next button. To return to a previous reading, tap the Previous button.
The Psalms Index (left pane) provides quick access to all 150 psalms. Simply scroll up to view the other Psalms Books available.
Once you have found the desire Psalm number, simply click on it to choose it for display in the Psalter display (shown above).
The choice you make will be retained should you decide to close the app and reopen it later. The last displayed Psalm is automatically selected upon relaunching the app.
Also available is the ability to email family and friends the currently selected Psalm. Simply click the Share button to send the current prayer to:
- Text Messaging
- Twitter (link only due to limit of 140 characters)
- Pasteboard (Copy)
- Other apps that are supported by iOS 8
The Settings button (available on the Psalter display) provides access to fonts available on your device. This screen is divided into three section:
- Available Fonts: selection
- Font Size: selection
- Sample Text: area for observing selected font and size appearance
After choosing a desired font face and size, simply click the Back button in the upper left to retain the desired font choice.
Selecting the About button in the options toolbar displays the Concerning the Psalter display providing background information about the Psalter.
